Arctigenin Brightening Treatment

I am beyond excited to introduce a brand-new product at Ella’s Aesthetics: the Arctigenin Brightening Treatment!

This powerhouse treatment combines the benefits of a vitamin C serum, a skin brightener, and a moisturizer—all in one!

As always, I like to personally test products before recommending them to my clients or putting my name behind them. I've been on the hunt for the perfect vitamin C for a while now. I've tried almost every popular option on the market, but none truly won me over—until this one. Although I don't struggle with hyperpigmentation yet, I’ve noticed some amazing benefits almost immediately after using this treatment:

Instant hydration and moisture: The texture of this treatment is like nothing I’ve used before! It's lighter than a typical moisturizer but leaves the skin feeling incredibly dewy and replenished. It’s perfect for mornings when I want something lighter. I use it as my last step to achieve a fresh, glowing look without the heaviness of traditional moisturizers.

Improved skin health and reduced breakouts: Another immediate benefit I noticed was how quickly it helped with PIE (post-inflammatory erythema) and reduced breakouts. I’m always cautious when introducing a new vitamin C product because my skin is sensitive and prone to breakouts. Many vitamin C formulations can trigger flare-ups, but this one has been gentle on my skin, protecting it from free radical damage while also helping to improve acne.

These results have turned me into a huge fan of this product, and now, let’s dive into the science behind it!

Epicutis has developed a groundbreaking ingredient for this product called ABSO (Arctigenin-Enriched Burdock Seed Extract Oil). This oil helps brighten the skin and even out tone by acting as a pigment inhibitor, or tyrosinase inhibitor. It calms melanocytes—cells in the skin that produce pigment. Hyperpigmentation, age spots, sun spots, and other discolorations occur when melanocytes become overactive and produce too much pigment. This can happen due to hormonal changes, pregnancy, sun exposure, or even heat. Pigmentation is one of the most challenging skin concerns to treat, and it often returns even after being addressed. This product works by stabilizing melanocytes, reducing existing pigmentation, and preventing further discoloration.

Using a pigment inhibitor is especially important before undergoing more aggressive treatments like lasers, microneedling, or chemical peels. These procedures create controlled injury to the skin, prompting melanocytes to react and repair. But sometimes, this can lead to negative reactions, including hyperpigmentation or scarring. Prepping your skin with a pigment inhibitor before these treatments significantly reduces the risk of such complications. Whether you're dealing with pigmentation, PIE, or uneven skin tone, this ingredient is a game-changer for your skin!

Another star ingredient is Disodium S-Phytyl Diglycoloylcysteine (DSD), a powerful antioxidant that protects the skin from UVA and UVB rays, offering anti-aging benefits. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce redness, acne, and support overall skin health.

The product also contains Ferulic Acid, which neutralizes free radicals. But what exactly are free radicals, and how do they affect your skin? Free radicals are unstable molecules with unpaired electrons. They constantly search for other molecules to bond with, and when they attach to healthy skin cells, they turn those cells into more free radicals, continuing the damaging cycle. It’s like a zombie apocalypse—healthy skin cells are transformed into free radicals, speeding up the aging process. Ferulic Acid helps neutralize these free radicals, keeping your skin youthful and healthy.

For the moisturizing aspect, we have Salvia Hispanica Seed Oil, derived from chia seeds. This ingredient provides essential omega-3 fatty acids to hydrate and repair the skin barrier. The product also includes other hydrating ingredients like Propanediol, Maltodextrin, and Pentylene Glycol, which give your skin the dewy glow and moisture it needs, morning and night.

One of the unique things about this vitamin C treatment is that it can be used both morning and night. Some vitamin C formulas don’t mix well with retinoids, but this one is perfectly compatible with your other nighttime skincare products, allowing you to use it at any time without disrupting your routine.

How to use: Since this treatment has a thicker serum-like texture, you can use it as the last step in your regimen as a moisturizer or apply it as your last serum before using a heavier moisturizer. Use both AM and PM.

With all these incredible benefits, it’s no surprise that this has become one of my favorite products, and I’m so excited for you to experience the amazing results! As always, if you have any questions about this product, feel free to reach out—I’m always happy to help.

Xoxo,

The Pink Estie
